New Chapel

The New Chapel was first planned by Reverend Dr. Henry Augustus Coit, the First Rector of St. Paul’s School. The school raised over $100,000 ($2.5 million dollars today) for the new Chapel to be built, and on April 3, 1886, the funds were raised. Architect Henry Vaughan was hired to complete the design. The Chapel has undergone major renovations. In 1929 the Chapel was torn in half, and the renovation was put in between the two original halves. This brought the addition of what we now call Sleepy Hollow.
